I will be offering a Handbuilding Beginners Course in mid Feb 2012.  Once I have the names of interested students, we can decide on a day/evening that will suit . The course is over 5 lessons and costs R750 which includes all materials and firings.  Here is an outline of what one can expect:-

                                              Session 1:
The student will engage in exercises to explore the nature of clay and the nature of creativity.  One will finish the
session having made at least one interesting object

                                              Session 2:
The student will work with the clay makng a variety of little pinch pots. Here one will learn to impose one's will on the clay and also to allow the clay to dictate its will to you. One will finish the lesson having made at least 4 little pots (great for olives, toothpicks, paperclips etc)

                                              Session 3:
In this lesson one will learn about different glazing techniques and use this knowledge to glaze all work done so far.

                                              Session 4:
Here the student will make one or two milkjugs/vessels imprinting the surfaces with patterns and textures- creatively considering the shape and size of spouts and handles.

                                              Session 5:
In this final lesson one will glaze the work from session 4 using a variety of glazes, stains and underglazes.
